If you'd like to learn more about Micronesia, its history, culture and people, Micronesian Seminar is an excellent resource.

If you're thinking of visiting Micronesia, we highly recommend the Truk Stop Hotel and Dive Center on Chuuk and the Village Hotel on Pohnpei.

Micronesian Seminar
Under the direction of Francis X. Hezel since its establishment in 1972, the main mission of Micronesian Seminar is community education. However, MicSem also engages in social and historical research. For an excellent photo history of Micronesia, go the main page and click on "Photos."
The Truk Stop Hotel, Chuuk
The Truk Stop Hotel & Dive Center offers great accommodations and a full service dive center. Its Hard Wreck Cafe and Bar is a favorite local hangout for resident expatriates, divers, and business travelers. The Truk Stop also happens to be owned and operated by our friends Bill and Kiki Stinnett, who are featured in Micronesian Blues. Be sure to say "hi" for us if you pay them a visit.
The Village Hotel, Pohnpei
Established in 1976 by Bob and Patti Arthur, the Village is one of the first eco-resorts ever built. In 1991, a U.S. government agency gave the Village the first eco-tourism award for building a hotel "in tune with nature, with a low impact on the environment and the culture." Check out their website for some drool-worthy views that may entice you to bag it all and head for Pohnpei.
